The club was easily gotten in to, the plan had been gone over time and time again on the drive. Lestat would scan the crowd, fine the most wicked of the crowd, then sister death would go out and work her magic. To get the brute to a bathroom or the alleyway, where Lestat would be waiting for her to deliver them to the hands of gentlemen death. It was perfect, beautiful and the idea made his blood run. They would be a duo once more. It was breath taking for him.

------

A few days later Lestat was walking in with Claudia his face colored from the blood, tossing the ferarri's keys on the table as he moved and threw himself on the couch. Not thinking how Louis may be home. The fact he could hear him.

"You were spectacular ma cheri! He never saw it coming!" He loved the rush. The man had tried to grab Claudia as Lestat had come from behind almost to late but his teeth sank in and he drank until the body crumbled to the ground, then of all things he danced with her in the alleyway around the body. "You will be just as vicious when you are finally one of us again!" He was much to happy, the laughter finally came, bubbling like he had not a care in the world.

After he returned from feeding Louis had lit a few candles that were still burning in the foyer, and earlier read a book by the light of them. It had been a quick endeavor and he waited up for his lovers to return, expecting nothing untoward until he heard Lestat's effusive babbling as they returned.

Voodoo bounded forward to greet the two as Louis stayed in the shadows, as silent and invisible as possible, before collecting himself and stepping out. "Just as vicious? Finally one of us again?" he echoed. "Lestat, what do you mean?"

The man had been drinking heavily, so Lestat was less than sober. She had actually driven them back, and Lestat had only taken the keys back after they were safely parked again. Ironic, seeing as she'd willingly, even eagerly put her personal safety on the line to entrap Lestat's dinner.

She tries to shush Lestat too, but hearing Louis, she just sighs. Here it comes. They were both in trouble now.

Louis stood mutely, watching Lestat in his fit of happiness and looking at Claudia with a disenchanted disappointment in his eyes. Yes, Lestat was vicious, and Claudia always had been as well. It had been part of her vampire nature, not her human.

Or so he thought.

"Who did you kill?" he asked, looking at Claudia.

She doesn't like Louis looking at her like that. Not at all. She crosses her arms, her expression closing down. She shouldn't feel ashamed. She resents that one glance from Louis can make her feel like she's failed him.

"No one. I didn't touch anyone."

Wasn't this an occasion for shame? Aiding in a murder? Lestat might need to kill as certainly as he does, but for Claudia there's no reason.

"What did you do?"

No, in her mind it isn't an occasion for shame. And neither one to celebrate. People don't feel proud when they order take out, nor shame. And Louis' reaction, while slightly expected, seems disproportionate. And this situation, where he has taken on the role of disapproving father bothers her, to the point where the initial wash of meekness is turning to defiance and stubbornness.

"Exactly what we've already said. I helped, but I didn't kill anybody. That's clear enough, I would think."

NO ONE SAW THAT

"Why?" It was the most poignant question he could ask. Why bring Claudia into hunting and why would she want to hunt?

"Not that attitude, not tonight. Please."

Overdramatic empty words. Lestat could never tell Louis how to act or feel and nothing had changed on that front. He stared steadily back at Lestat, sober and steadier, more sensible and perhaps stronger in the moment, but didn't rise to a fight.

"I asked why; you didn't answer me. Claudia, is what he says true?"

While Lestat trying to take the blame is admirable, in the extreme, she doesn't want it. She steps up, making sure she has equal focus.

"No, Lestat, you don't have to shield me. I asked to be taken out. I wanted to know how I would feel."

"Fun," he echoed disdainfully. Fun was not a good enough reason to endanger Claudia. It was not a reason to ever drag a mortal girl into a murder. And it definitely was not reason enough to get into a fight about morality when Lestat was drunk and Claudia was on the defensive.

He didn't want to be around with them in those states at all, frankly.

"Are you staying?" he asked Claudia. If she was it meant he could give Thibault to her and go out for a walk.

She was indeed on the defensive. Louis was being unreasonable. Lestat was talking over her. And no one was actually listening to anything she had to say.

She lifts her chin, clearly angry, and directing it at Louis. "If I'm welcome."

"You're always welcome." That much was still true, even if he was angry. Even if he didn't want to talk to either of them right now. He rose to snuff the candles, moving so calmly it seemed almost mechanical. "Get him to bed, will you?"

And Claudia was still good at this. She flirts, seduces, draws the man along, playing the perfect bait. He never sees out coming, and that's exciting. She feels incredibly powerful, knowing that she was going to be the one to stop him forever.

She guides him outside this first time. She wants to make sure no one sees what happens, or associates her face with his. Tagging his hand, she giggles, leads him around the corner of the building.

"Hot in there," she smiles, backs up against the alley wall.

She didn't know anything any this man, only that he was evil, and that he'd hurt her if he has the chance. It's why he was chosen. So when he pulled the knife, she isn't surprised. She'd expected a threat, some kind of power play. The fact he'd done so only cemented that they'd chosen well.

She could try to fake fear, but it would come off hollow. So instead, she let herself simply be cautious. After all, she doesn't want to get cut. That's true. So she puts her hands up, that universal sign of 'don't hurt me', and leans away from the blade, pressing into the wall.

"You don't need that. I won't scream." Is an effort to not look at Lestat over the man's shoulder. She doesn't want to give the game away.

She side steps as soon as the man's head is yanked back. Good thing too, since Lestat was being messy with his food.

"That's contradictory. Either you want me to scream or you don't." She scolds even as the man dies. She even goes so far as to brush off her clothes where he'd touched her. "I'd tell you to fix it for next time, but well. There is no next time."

"It's you're own fault. What happened to your table manners?" She steps over the body, as if it weren't just a person. She's handling this well, that's good. Or worrisome. Whichever.

"Are you planning on doing something with this? You know with forensics and all these days."

She takes the card and walks around him. Then, almost like an after thought, she pauses and kisses his cheek, in a clean place, before hurrying off to go shopping for him.

It takes her a few minutes. Likely longer than he'll expect. When she does come back she has more than one bag and a new hat on her head.

"Three shirts for you. Two for me, and a new hat. I didn't want anyone linking my buying a man's shirt with this... mess." She does like to watch a lot of crime shows.

"Everyone finds you pleasing. Even blind people." As to the rest, she just thinks on it more, moving into Lestat's embrace. She puts her arms around him, holding tight. She's still not used to this whole flying thing.

Their conversation is paused while they fly. She's not afraid he'll drop her. She's more afraid she'll get dizzy and throw up, or something equally uncool. It's only when she's safely back on the ground that she continues.

"They claim not to like you because you're irritating. You're still irresistable, but no one said we had to like it all the time."

The next day Louis had slept in one of the guest rooms, too angry to be beside Lestat. It was not a restful slumber, and he awoke in early evening just as frustrated as he'd been the night before. He could hear Lestat moving in the house, likely preening and getting ready to go out.

It was just like old times, he thought grimly as he dressed in dull grays. Lestat gaily killing, drinking mortals to death with glee, sharing it with Claudia, while he stayed apart, mired in the morality. But the old times weren't what any of them had wanted, and he didn't intend to stand aside this time.

When he approached Lestat he didn't greet him, only crossed his arms and informed him "I'm going with you tonight."

The good times were indeed over. Louis' lack of pleasure in killing were but one of the reasons this hunt would be nowhere near as fun for Lestat as the last.

"If you're going to share the hunt, share it with me," he answered. "After all, we have the same need to kill." And Claudia didn't. Lestat didn't have to encourage her, not while alive.

And those would be returned with some very scathing criticisms. Louis slipped on his coat and followed, not warming to Lestat yet.

"A real meal," he repeated. "What are you hungry for? Did you have someone in mind or are you content with finding a victim by chance?" Either way Louis would go along, and either way Lestat would probably chastise him for being humorless about the deaths.

"You certainly seemed to have amused yourself lately." Of course as Louis delivered that jab he realized where Lestat was going and what he had planned. He could soften up and take Lestat's hand, or he could risk it on his own. "Where are you heading?"

"I am not. If you could've seen yourself last night, Lestat, you wouldn't doubt me." And how prone is Louis to exaggeration? Well, they could argue back and forth about that one for hours.

"A fair point." And really, the faster they got this over with the better; it'd no doubt turn into old-fashioned ribbing about his disinterest in the kill. Still, he didn't want to fly, had rarely done it without his arms around Lestat and found it jarring.

"I'm not talking about the drunken blood." That in and of itself was fine. Louis was generally entertained (or at least amused) by Lestat in a state of inebriation; the problem was how he'd gotten there. "You were playing games as the two of you once did. Playing with your food. And you adored it, plainly."

Not that it didn't make sense. Of course Lestat had wanted to share things with her (although Louis believed the reasons to be less altruistic than Lestat described). He was going to say as much when Lestat rose, and called after him before following. "What dangers will come for her? Who?"

"That's what we've always called mortals who kill, isn't it. Evil." It might be forgivable, for a vampire; there's necessity in their kills. A human who kills is just a murderer. Claudia is closer to evil for this than she was in her old life.

"And how will her killing with you protect her from Armand?"
